If you wish to discover the beauty of the Moroccan Grand Sud, then it’s best that you begin your journey from Marrakech. After visiting the city’s highlights, and instead of taking the motorway, take the road that runs across the summits of the Atlas mountains, and share unforgettable moments with the Berber people, tasting the healthy local food, and stopping for a visit of Asni’s market and the Valley of Ourika.
Head for Agadir and its Paradise Valley. In this region you find Mirleft and Tiznit, two lovely coastal towns surrounded by beautiful scenery and boasting long, almost deserted sandy beaches.
The road unfolds by the ocean southwards and then towards Ouarzazate, where you can admire its Kasbah and visit the city’s world famous cinema studios. Ouarzazate offers a wide range of accommodation for all budgets, from small hotels or lodges up to luxurious properties for those who like comfort and modernity even in the remotest part of the world.
The journey continues towards Agdz. At this level two choices are possible: a view of the desert and dunes in Zagora with a short stop in M’hamid to sleep in the wilderness and enjoy this unique communion with nature or continue towards Zagora! The choice is not easy, but both destinations live up to expectations. Other towns to the south are accessible as Laayoune for travelers in a hurry! A magnificent journey in the direction of the Great South of Morocco awaits all visitors in search of authenticity.
